Yekm Food Hub

Once complete, the Yekm Food Hub will have a food processing facility and a market with fresh, local produce for sale. The food hub will be beside the Battlefield Community Kitchen.

The food hub will help revitalize the Nlaka’pamux lifestyle, strengthen local food security, create good-paying jobs, and strengthen solidarity among our members. 

Project Updates

In the past few months, crews have: 

- The concrete slab for the building's foundation has been poured

-Beams have been installed to support the building

-Funding has been secured to buy a van, which will transport fresh, local produce to the market

In the coming weeks, crews will: 

- Install the roof sheathing, which will cover and protect the framework of the building

- Install large, metal material on the outer part of the roof

- Install the plumbing 

- Install the electrical conduit in the main distribution room

Anticipated Completion Date 

The entire food hub should be fully operational this fall. Below are recent photos of the project.
